Being able to see well as possible is critical to your quality of life. You use your vision day in and day out and working to protect it is important. There is a variety of things you can regularly do  that can decrease the deterioration of your eyesight. Knowing specific tips that will allow your vision to improve can help with the overall quality of your life.

Tip #1:  Eat better

The food you put in your body will have an impact on your overall health and your vision. By eating foods that are highly nutritious and loaded with antioxidants, this may work to maintain your eyesight.

Listed below are foods you should consider eating on a daily basis:

1. Green and leafy vegetables are loaded with nutrients and may improve your vision.

2.  Fish products, such as salmon, tuna and other types are good choices.

3.  Avoid eating fatty foods when possible and substitute for low-fat choices.

Tip #2: Limit computer time

Staring at a computer all day can cause problems with your eyesight. If you work on a personal computer or laptop a lot, take the time to take necessary breaks to avoid eye strain that could turn into larger problems at a later date.

Tip #3: Wear corrective lenses

If it's necessary for you to wear glasses or contacts, be sure to do this as recommended by your eye doctor. This can help you avoid eye strain and other problems that are a direct result of overusing your eyesight when it's not necessary.

Tip #4: Use sunglasses

If you are outdoors for any length of time, it's important to protect your eyes from the ultraviolet rays. Wearing sunglasses that to shield your eyes from these dangerous rays is important at all times.

Even on cloudy days, there are UV rays that you may not be able to see, but could still be dangerous to your eyesight.

Tip #5: Do eye exercises

One way to strengthen your eyes is to focus on something that is close-up and then turn your attention to an object that is further off in the distance. By doing this frequently throughout the day, this can strengthen your eyesight.

Finally, it is possible to improve your vision and decrease eye problems with some effort. Be sure to consult with your ophthalmologist at places like California Eye Specialists Medical Group Inc. to schedule an appointment for a comprehensive exam to determine the current condition of your eyes.

Welcome to Sara's Site

Hi there! My name is Sara Jerba. I'm no doctor, but I'm very familiar with them due to experience. You could say I was a sickly child. Between various allergies and a few other conditions, I got to be very good friends with my doctors and nurses. Although I hate staying overnight in the hospital, I do feel quite at home there. Now, don't feel sorry for me. Most of my conditions have eased or even abated entirely as I've grown up. And none of them were ever life-threatening--just inconvenient. It's actually been very positive in the long run; it's brought a lot of wonderful people and important knowledge into my life that I wouldn't have had otherwise.
